About Hotels in Temple of Olympian Zeus!

The Temple of Olympian Zeus in Athens is an iconic monument, standing as a reminder of the ancient Greek civilization. Located on the northwestern side of the Acropolis in Athens, it was built during the 6th century BC under the orders of Peisistratos and later finished by Roman Emperor Hadrian in 131 AD.

This imposing temple measures 96 metres long and 40 metres wide and was designed with 104 Corinthian columns, each measuring 17 metres high. During its heyday, it housed one of the largest cult statues of Zeus ever made.

Although much of this has been lost over time, there are still some ruins remaining today – although only 15 columns still stand in their original position. It’s believed that the temple was used for a variety of religious ceremonies, such as animal sacrifices and public festivals like the Panathenaic Games.

Today, The Temple of Olympian Zeus is a popular tourist attraction and is now considered to be an important part of Athenian history and culture. Visitors often come to admire its enormous structure or take part in guided tours that explain its historical significance. As one of Greece’s most incredible monuments from ancient times, it continues to draw crowds who come to appreciate its grandeur from afar or explore its remains up close.
