About Hotels in Statue Of Pericles!

The Statue of Pericles in Athens is a stunning piece of artistry that stands tall in the city center, immortalizing the man who is widely accepted as the "first citizen" of Athens. Standing at over 12 feet tall, it was carved out of Parian marble by the famed sculptor Kresilas during the height of the Golden Age of Greece. It portrays Pericles with a heroic bearing and confidence, wearing an ornately decorated Corinthian helmet and standing atop a two-stepped base that was crafted from Pentelic marble. The figure also holds a spear in its right hand, while his left arm points outwards to seemingly represent his famous quote: "What is noble cannot be grasped or touched."

This grand monument has been associated with Pericles ever since it first stood in its original location on the Acropolis Hill. For centuries afterwards, it would remain there until 1884 when it was moved to its current home at Kerameikos Archaeological Museum for preservation purposes. The statue serves as a reminder for all citizens of Athens about their proud history and remarkable achievements made during this time – including those lead by one of their most iconic leaders, Pericles himself. It will undoubtedly remain a revered symbol of Athenian culture for many years to come.
